Kumarghat, Oct 11 (TIWN): Looting of different Public and Welfare funds in different Govt. and Self-governance bodies , has become a common feature of current leftist regime of the state.
And more seriously, in the ‘Golden Era’ no panacea is being traced in near future to remedy this wide-spread corruption. In different Nagar Panchayats, TUEP or Tripura Urban Employment Project has proved to be a den of misappropriation and looting of funds. Such a case of complete gobbling of TUEP fund in Kumarghat Nagar Panchayat has recently came to the lime light through RTI, where a total of 25,000 rupees has gobbled issuing two work orders for a non-existent drain. Interestingly, the drain is shown to be excavated by the bank of the Deo river.
On 31/12/2009 Kumarghat Nagar Panchayat issued a work order No. F 2(41) EO/ KGT/TUEP/2007-10/39 for “Improvement of Kachcha drain from Young Star Club to Deo Bridge both sides under TUEP during 2007-10, ward no. 03” costing 10,000 rupees. Interestingly, from Young Star Club to Deo Bridge there never was and is any drain, accused the people of Kumarghat . But the money got spent . Again, on, 18/03/2010, the Kumarghat Nagar Panchayat issued another work order no. F2(42)EO/KGT/TUEP/2007-10/39 for “ Excavation of drain from Young Star Club to Swasti Rest House ward no. 03 under TUEP during 2009-10” costing 15,000 rupees. Now schockingly, Swasti Rest House is adjacent to Deo Bridge and in both the work orders the trick has done in changing names merely. Many local people are of the strong view that, the present scenario of corruption is merely the tip of the iceberg .
