AGARTALA, October 11, 2014 (TIWN): Better late than Never! Coming under intense pressure from all the corners including civic society to opposition the Police, at last, have imposed bailable sections in the Chandrapur woman assaultation case. Earlier the Police were reported to include the bailable sections in the case mentioned and the same had made the offenders go free.
Of late, bailable section 354 subsection b (outrage of modesty) and 379 (Punishment for theft) have been imposed, which are non bailable. PCC’s Mohila Congress President Kalyani Roy, while talking to TIWN, today, said: “We had earlier requested the Police to impose the non-bailable sections as per the requirements and severity of the case and accordingly the Investigating Officer (IO) made a prayer in the court.”
Meanwhile, the said case would be produced before the court on next Monday. Mrs. Roy further has informed that a team of Mohila Congress would go to Udaipur on next Monday to meet the 3 rape victims. On the same day, the Mohila Congress would also hold a protest march in the capital against the ongoing crimes against the women in the state. “Congress councilor meet the victim Soma Majumdar fir ensuring her protection and all possible helps”, further added Advocate Mrs. Kalyani Roy.
