People witness ‘milan mela’ at Akhuara zero-line

Agartala, Oct 11 (TIWN): Following the bye-gone holy Eid festival, a concord fair (Milan Mela) was conducted among the people of Bangladesh and India at the zero-line of Akhuara land port on Tuesday and Wednesday evening.

The National flags of two neighbouring countries- India and Bangladesh were spotted flying right from the sunrise to sunset at the zero-line of Akhuara land port. The flag hosting and flag-down have been performed by maintaining the proper manner. Though, much gathering was not seen in the morning time (flag hosting) but the time of flag-down drawn huge gathering in the evening.

According to the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), the border forces of two countries have performed flag-down with the same command by 5.30, in the evening. They have also played bugler in the background.

The border was opened for the public on the both day so that they can witness the festival. After the flag-down ceremony, people of two countries shacked hand to each other. Though there was time over 15 minutes but no one crossed the border.

The chairman of South Union Council, Akhuara- Shahanaj Khan said the zero-line of Akhuara land port turned into place for entertainment. The feelings of patriotism are the main fact here. “I have requested to the BGB authority to extend the space in Zero-line so that more people can rejoice the milan mela.

The Commander of 12 Bn BGB, Naik Subedar, Akhaura- Shafiul Alam said we face some problems when many viewers gather in the small space but we solemnly try to give chance to everyone to witness the scene.
