Agartala, October 11 (TIWN): Chief Minister finally called for the enquiry report of the women assault case in Chandrapur Kalibari area. In the meantime the victim meeting Governor on saturday to submit video of the brutal incident.

In this connection, Tripura Pradesh Mahila Congress visited the Director General of Police on this humiliation issue by seeking proper investigation, yesterday. According to the locals adjoining to the victim’s house, police had sought time for 12 hours to take necessary action against the accused persons but failed to do so. As a result, the locals also encircled the local police station yesterday.

On the other hand the victim, Soma Debnath, alleged that a section of doctors of Indira Gandhi Memorial (IGM) hospital work for the ruling party as the doctor did not mention about any physical assault in the medical report. The chairperson of Tripura Commission for Women- Purnima Roy, president of Tripura Pradesh Mahila Congress- Kalyani Roy, Member of Parliament (MP)- Jharna Das Baidya including many others condemned this incident .It is to be mentioned here, all the 18 FIR named persons have surrendered before the court on October 7.

This will show in the eyes of the people about how women’s are brutally tortured. It is to be mentioned in this connection that police remained a silent spectator in this case. Even after 48 hours of the brutal incident, police failed to arrest majority of the FIR named persons in connection with this case. Only one of them was arrested yesterday. They remain on the standpoint that investigation is under progess. Both the opposition parties protested against this inhuman torture upon the women. It is likely to be mentioned that under pressure at last Chief Minister called for the enquiry report.

The incident happened on Chandrapur Kaibari area where, few persons including women assaulted Soma by tying her with a pillar in presence of the Gram Panchayat Pradhan when she appeared for to attend a reconciliation meeting. She blamed some persons for offering liquor to her husband- Nirmal Debnath evening on the occasion Dashami. Getting furious, some people including women physically assaulted Soma on the spot. The very next day, she was again thrashed by them by tying her to a pillar when they were summoned for hearing in the presence of Pradhan. As a result, Soma received grievous injuries. She was taken to the GBP hospital immediately late on the evening.
