AGARTALA, October 11 (TIWN): After more than three weeks since FIR is lodged against CPI(M) 'specially favoured!' BDO Bimal Chakraborty in Bishalgarh Police Station, Rural Development Minister Naresh Jamatia came out of 'slumber' telling the Press that instructions have been sent to Information & Cultural Affairs (ICA) to take action against Bimal Chakraborty for his involvement in the Rs 17 crore MGNREGA scam in Bishalgarh R D Block. This declaration is much expected as a Memarnath source told TIWN on Friday night," Bimal's Godfather will never allow the police to take action against him. Once suspended, state govt will try to campaign that it has taken action as per rulebook. But what will still remain unanswered is intentional failure of police to arrest BDO Bimal Chakraborty inspite of his involvement in the MGNREGA scam."

Bimal may be suspended for some duration. But that will surely be an attempt to protect him from police and possible trial under IPC Sections 109, 120-B,  Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. 

Bimal Chakraborty and his family has always been showered with continuous blessings from CPI(M)  Party. The reasons too are obvious. State DYFI Secretary Amal Chakraborty is his brother and it is no doubt that a family member of such an influential leader does not deserve to be treated badly in the hands of police. That's why in RMSA scam police succeeded to arrest Arnab Chakraborty from Kolkata but in MGNREGA case, it has not yet been able to detect Bimal Chakraborty's whereabouts. "Actually being a bossom friend of Bimal's brother Shyamal Chakraborty, Manikbabu won't try to instruct police to go deep in the investigation. And thatswhy the Investigating Officer Kanti Lal Baidya, who too hails from a hardcore CPI(M) family , has been able to speak with his 'Bimalda' over phone but when the question of taking in police custody arises, Bimal is said to be 'untraced', " alleged a top level leader of Melarmath.

      People of Tripura clearly have guessed that in the name of suspension, Bimal Chakraborty's case will go into oblivion. Unless CBI probe is ordered, truth won't be unearthed. But the irony of the fact is that the opposition parties in Tripura are mostly numb on this issue. Sometimes they beat the drum as if protesting but often they deviate from prime issues.

In West Bengal the opposition parties are collectively protesting against any incident of crime and as a result of it one after another - cases are being handed over to Central Investigating Agencies like NIA and CBI. But in Tripura not even a single PIL has been submitted before the court demanding CBI probe in any of the scams held over the years. Fortunately Congress has declared that it will submit PIL in High Court soon in MGNREGA scam. But even within CPI(M) there is ample amount of trust that ultimately Opposition will save CPIM brothers in the time of need.  

A top level CPI(M) leader ( unwilling to reveal his name) told TIWN on Friday night," Congress has recently said that it will arrange Abhishek Manu Singvi as a lawyer in favour of the petitioners in 10323 Teachers' Termination case. What has happened ? Manu Singvi didn’t show up in Supreme Court on the day of hearing. Unless PIL is submitted , nothing is guaranteed. " The leader also said if a Public Interest Litigation(PIL) is to be made, any lawyer in Tripura could have done it easily. Then why Leader of Opposition went to Kolkata for legal advise?

Well, only Congress can give correct reply to this question. Now whatever little credibility remains as Opposition Party,  that also will be lost if Congress prefers to function only as “Press Conference Party”. General public lost faith in opposition as most of the times its functioning like a 2^nd fiddle of ruling party.  Tripura public’s next hope is BJP but that also has no effective leadership to challenge corruptions of comrades.
