UDAIPUR, October 11 (TIWN): On Maha Sashthi, when people were busy in Durga Puja festival, two Gr-D employees of DM Gomati's Office working under Senior Deputy Magistrate P L Chakma were busy in looting money from the Gratuituos Relief (GR) fund allotted as Durga Puja Allowance to be distributed among the poor and disabled. The looting happened on 30th September, the last working day before Durga Puja holiday. To avoid getting trapped the two Gr-D employees drew the money at the eleventh hour of the day. Both the employees , obviously active members of CPI(M)'s Employees' Organ(TGEA), kept Senior Deputy Magistrate P L Chakma in dark about the total incident. And employees from some other sections in DM Gomati's office like Development Section & Nazarat Section too are involved in this scam, said a TIWN sources in DM Gomati's office. Corruption in District Administration is widespread in every level and nexus of officials, politicians, lower level staff mostly going unnoticed.

Initially it was decided that each and every disabled person would be given Rs 300/- each from Gratuitous Relief Fund. Accordingly many poor and disabled persons gathered in Senior Deputy Magistrate's Office. Taking this into account Senior Deputy Magistrate P L Chakma changed his earlier decision and instructed that each poor and disable would be given Rs 200/-. But before the decision was officially changed, some employees in the office especially Uttam Das and Sankar Datta looted more than 40 GR of Rs 300/- each . Again when the decision was changed , Uttam Das and Sankar Datta took the assistance of some other employees of Development and Nazarat sections to loot more GR.

On 30th September when many were busy in Puja preparation, Uttam and Sankar thought it to be the right time to make the good use this chance and as per plan looted around 100 GR of Rs 200/- in the second hour of that day. An official probably said the truth ," Uttam and Sankar might have thought that as the Big Fishes are involved in multicrore scams, media won't possibly investigate in such small amount. But now it is upto DM Gomati and also to Sr Deputy Magistrate P L Chakma to investigate into the matter." According to TIWN sources even many top officials in Gomati District are now involved in different scams and TIWN will do its investigation in due course to unearth them.
