Agartala, October 10 (TIWN): The number one awarded State in MGNREGA,Tripura had completed only nineteen (19) days work during last six months of the current financial year. However Central Government clearly stated that no more blocks in Tripura will be listed in the backward category. The decision had been mentioned in reply of the letter given by the State Government on August 8 of the year 2014.

Earlier the Central Government had issued a notification that only 15 (fifteen) blocks of Tripura will be treated as backward. But the State Government did not agree to the decision. Their standpoint is that
Autonomous District Council (ADC) itself is backward. There are 23 (twenty-three) blocks under ADC. So, to strengthen the condition more blocks should be declared.
Supporting their statement, the Government had already sent a letter to the Central Rural Development Ministry. In reply on that September 25th Union R.D. minister, Nitin Gadkari, clearly mentioned that “If desired State Government can extend the quantity of blocks. But no Central assistance should be approved for the State recruited backward blocks.”
On the other hand, State also mentioned in the letter that for hundred days work near about 1400 crore rupees should be needed. However the Central Government, by totally not discarding the State’s demand had approved only 652 crore rupees and informed that more funds will be released based upon the activities of the work.

It is to be mentioned here that only 180 crore 3lakhs rupees had been released by the Central Government yet. However, on the quantity of work , it is seen that only nineteen days work had been completed during the last six and half months of the financial year 2014-15. In the meantime Dhalai district emerges as the highest working with a number of 27days. In reply to the question of the poor quantity of work, R.D. minister Naresh Jamatia informed that due to the recently concluded Panchayat election Rega work disrupts in some places. Though this kind of standpoint appears to be weak from the common points of view. The raising question in the recent time is that if such a poor quantity of work had been completed in last six and half months. Will the remaining work able to be completed during the coming months. It is to be mentioned here that State R.D. Minister will soon meet with Union R.D. Minister. But the appointment has not been fixed yet. The Resident Commissioner of Tripura Bhawan trying heart and soul to fix the appointment.
