AGARTALA, October 10 (TIWN): A district level workshop on implementation of comprehensive and continuous evaluation (CCE) and improvement of quality education was held at Pragna Bhavan here today. While speaking in the workshop minister for education Tapan Chakraborty said that comprehensive and continuous evaluation (CCE) system almost conforms to the present evaluation system of 4 monthly tests and 1 half yearly and 1 annual examination prevalent in the state as per recommendation of state education commission. The 4 monthly tests will be converted into 4 formative assessments and half yearly and annual examinations into 2 summative assessments following the same time schedule, he mentioned.

All teachers will maintain a diary wherein he/she will record the performance/grade points for each student of his/her class for assessment under formative, summative, scholastic and co-scholastic areas. All teachers will have to prepare lesson plan on weekly basis for his/her allotted subjects in advance and obtain approval of the HM, he added.

School authorities must have to arrange meeting with the parents of the children who are not attending schools regularly and students who are not performing well at least once in a month to discuss the problems. Attendance upto 85% must be ensured by all concerned HM/AHM/TICs, he added.

Punctuality in attendance is to be emphasized by all concerned. Teachers have a pivotal role to play for the sake of teaching learning. Everybody associated with the system should have the concern. Action against those found absent in an unauthorized manner must be taken firmly, he mentioned.

While imparting teaching in the class room, one-to-one interaction between the teacher and the student has to be ensured for the sake of evaluation of child’s understanding of the lesson taught. There are reports showing that the results of the examinations conducted at school level are published late. The trend is very disappointing. The results must be published on time, evaluated answer scripts must be distributed amongst the students after seven days from the date of examination held on a subject in  case of unit test/half yearly exam in elementary stage (Class 1 to 8) and within 15 days in case of annual exam, he said.

Holding of SMC meeting on a regular basis/monthly basis must be ensured 1st Tuesday of each month. The process as such should start at the beginning of the academic year. All stakeholders must understand that the school is the property of the community and their participation in the process of running the school is of utmost importance. Minimum of 75% attendance of students must be ensured in a year to avail of any kind of stipend facility, the minister added.

Principal Secretary of school education Dr. K. Rajeswara Rao, President of TBSE professor Mihir Deb, Additional Secretary and Director of School Education P.K. Chakravarty and other officials were present in the workshop.
