UDAIPUR, October 10 (TIWN): The girls in Tripura, even the minors are not safe these days. Infact the entire womanhood is under serious threat with rapes, burning incidents and killing for dowry now becoming regular incidents. And what is mysterious is the 'total inactive role' of Tripura Woman Commission (TWC). Over the years TWC was seen in 'very few' cases to stand by the those victims. Rather, members of TWC are busy in organizing seminars and debates on 'Empowerment of Women'. Yet again two incidents of rape have been recorded and in both the cases the victims are minors. One incident took place in MataBari area while the another took place in Kakraban area.

Gomati District Magistrate occasionally blows trumpets of “Unnatisheel Gomati” but her administration has no time to enquire rape victims or take preventive measures against regular rapes, tortures on women in Gomati District. It’s a shame for Gomati District that women are least protected and brutally raped, tortured in regular intervals. No initiatives from Administration on Anti-Rape campaigns in interior places and pushing moral education in schools.

It is learnt that a 12 years old adopted of Subhas Samantha of Matabri area was raped by his neighbour Ratan Das's son Biswanath Das on the night of Laxmi Puja. Biswanath too is a minor of 13 years old. On the fateful night when the girl's parents were busy outside the house in some selling idols of Laxmi, Bisawnath entered the house and raped the girl forcibly. Biswanath even threatened the girl to kill if she reveals this incident. In fear the victim too did not reveal this case. But on Wednesday night when the girl showed some physical problems, she was made to tell the truth to her mother. Naturally shocked Subhas Samanta went to a member of MataBari Panchayat to make complain. But the CPI(M) Panchayat member suggested to compromise with the culprits family. The parents did not agree and came to Woman P S Udaipur and lodged a case (Case no-121/14) under Section  450/376(2I) of IPC and 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2012. However, no arrest has been possible so far.

TIWN sources say that victim's family is under pressure from local CPI(M)  leaders and MataBari Panchayat to withdraw the complaint and go for compromise. But the parents of the victims are not willing to go for compromise. Rather, they want to seek justice from judiciary.

In another incident two 6 years old daughters of Raju Sarkar and Narayan Mitra of Surendranagar , Hospital Chowmahani under Kakraban Police Station were raped by Akash Das(12) and Sagar Das(14) , S/O- Tapas Kumar Das of the same area continuously for three or four days during Durga Puja. The incident took place inside the construction site of ONGC near their houses. For three or four days the girls were raoed but due to their age the girls could not realize what had happened to them. Naturally they did not tell this to their parents. Last night when the daughter started feeling pain in her secret parts, then she was forced to tell what she had suffered. Also she told that Nayaran Mitra's daughter , her friend, too was a victim. Immediately parents of both the victims rushed to Kakraban Police Station and lodged a case( Case No-156/14) under section 376(2 I)/506 of IPC and also under 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2012. Meanwhile after receiving the complaint police arrested Akash Das while the other is still absconding. In the after non when Akash was produced before the Court, he was sentenced to 14 days of Juvenile Home at Narsingarh.

Speaking to TIWN on Thursday night, Investigating Officer Narayan Debnath said," Medical reports say that both the girls were raped. As they girls had signs of injuries on their bodies, it is certain that they were forced."
