Diwali Festival : Preparatory meeting held on Thursday

UDAIPUR,October 9 (TIWN): A high level meeting of the Diwali Festival Committee was held today in the Conference room of MataBari Block. The meeting was presided by MLA cum Chairman of Diwali Festival as well as Tripura Sundari Temple Development Committee Madhab Saha. Others,who attended the meeting , includes SDM Udaipur Ajit Debnath(also the Secretary of Diwali Festival Committee), Sabhadhipati of Gomati Zila Parishad Suniti Saha, Chairman of Matabari and Kakraban BAC, Executive engineer of PWD, DWS, officials of CMO office and TSECL. The meeting was also attended by BDO of Matabari R D Block Nibedita Bhowmik.

 In the three hours long meeting it was decided that as usual this year it will be a two days long festival-on 23rd and 24th October. And moreover, just before Diwali festival there will be ' Tripura Sundari Dance & Music Festival' on the 21st and 22nd of October in the temple complex. This type of programme surrounding a temple  which is usually held in South India, will be held in Tripura for the first time. Eminent artists from Tripura and other parts of India will take part during the two day long programme.

      Speaking to TIWN over phone on Thursday night Chairman of Mata Tripura Sundari Temple Development Committee cum Diwali Festival MLA Madhab Saha said," As far as the budget is concerned it will be around Rs 5 lakhs for Diwali. But there is a separate budget for Electricity Department. As it is a festival of light, naturally the budget for TSECL will go beyond Rs 11 lakh. And other allied departments like PWD, DWS will also have their budget but Diwali Festival Committee need to any for these as the funds will be managed by these two concerned departments. " Replying to a question Madhab Saha said that for illuminating the Tripura Sundari Temple and the Mela Complex  materials will be brought from outside the state ( Chandan Nagar, West Bengal). Madhab Saha further said that there is great possibility that the Governor of Tripura Padmanabha Balakrishna Acharya will remain present as the inaugurator of Diwali Festival 2014.
