Srinagar Border Hut preparatory meeting on Oct 8

Agartala, October 5 (TIWN): A preparatory meeting will be convened at Srinagar, Sabroom on 8th Oct 2014 at 11 am before Tripura's first Border Haat inauguration. Meeting will be attended by Addl. District Magistrate South Tripura, Director of Industry Department Pravin Agrawal along with MP Jitendra Choudhury. PRI Bodies of Poangbari RD Block - Satchand RDBlock - Sabhadhipati Himanshu Roy - MLA Rita Kar along with BDO Satchand and BDO Poangbari and SDM Sabroom Rajib Datta will also remain present for successful inauguration of First Border Haat at Srinagar Sabroom on 20th Oct 2014.

According to Pravin Agrawal , Director,Department of Industries and Commerce Government of Tripura “ Informally it is understood that Indian Department of Commerce is contacting their counterpart in Bangladesh for inauguration of Border Haat on 20th October 2014”.As far as work is concerned, it is going on smoothly and we are quite confident, it will be completed by 10th October 2014.

Business in the market (haat) would take place once a week among the people living within 5 km radius of the border who would sell and buy locally produced goods and crops. No local taxes would be imposed on the items to be sold in the haats and currencies of both the countries would prevail. Initially 16 items are shortlisted which include agricultural and horticultural crops, spices, minor forest products excluding timber, fish and dry fish, dairy and poultry products, cottage industry items, wooden furniture, handloom and handicraft items etc. Moreover PVC based Identity Card for Businessmen and Buyers of Border Huts at Srinagar Sabroom . Photographs of the person after identification by the DM office will be captured by application software and get stored at the backend. Before printing, the digitized demographic data and photograph captured in the database will be verified and authenticated by the concerned officials.
