Dharmanagar, October 5 (TIWN): Robbery at Choraibari Drop Gate occurred on Saturday midnight. However, police has shown a great success while they have arrested three Robbers after an encounter between robbers and Police. Police trying to catch another four out of seven members. Operation is going on, said local police.

Local Sources informed that, on Saturday midnight at about 2.30-3.00, a gang of seven robbers entered the Dhaba at Chanpur bazaar. They demanded to open the Dhaba. But the owner refused to do so. Facing obstacles they opened the door forcibly and grabbed the owner. They instructed the owner to handover the cash otherwise threatened to kill. The hapless owner handed over nearly sixty thousand cash from three boxes. The robbers also instructed the owner to gather one lakh rupees for robbers next visit.

After the departure of the robbers, the owner of the Dhaba immediately contacted with the Officer in-Charge (OC) of nearest Choraibari Police Station Jayanta Karmakar without wasting any time. Accordingly, OC rapidly contacted to the patrolling team. After receiving the message,  SDPO with a huge number of police started operation and reached Shimul Village of Balichara area. At that time the robbers whereabouts  came under notice of police. Robbers started firing while they realized that police reached to their hiding spot and after that police fired 5 rounds.

The robbers tried to escape but police got success in arresting three robbers from nearby house namely Abdul Karim (25), resident of Sanichara and Lenin Halam (25). It is to be mentioned here that Lenin earlier was in contact with NLFT group.  His brother Jewel Sangh Halam (26) was also in the group but succed to abscond. Jewel was also an earlier member of NLFT. On interrogation, they revealed details of robbery.

Local police said, The investigation is going on. A case has been lodged against the convict under the act 148/150, 123 (B), 307/396, IPC- 25/27. Four Rifles, one country made revolver, one chopper, hundred no of blades, chloroform, three mobile sets and liquor were also recovered from them. It is to be mentioned here that earlier on September 24^th, same group with six members made robbery at petrol pump at Chanpur bazaar and looted one lakh thirty eight thousand rupees.

On early morning of 05/10/14 information was received that a group of miscreants have attempted to commit dacoity in Rajasthan Hotel located on National Highway near Chanpur, Churaibari. A team of Police and TSR personnel led by SDPO Dharmanagar Rajdeep Deb and OC Bagbassa OP SI Jayanto Das immediately started for the spot. They received input that possible hideout of armed miscreants is located in the jungle of Simul Tilla. When police team was advancing towards Simultilla in the darkness at about 0345 hours the miscreants sensing trouble ahead fired a shot at police and jumped into nearby lunga. In self defense, police team fired 5 shots but the miscreants managed to escape taking advantage of darkness, fog and thick jungle.

Police immediately launched a cordon and search operation. During search four country made guns, one country made pistol, sharp cutting weapons, mobile phone, olive green caps and shirt and black clothes used as masks were recovered. Meanwhile SP and Addl SP also reached the spot with reinforcement. Based on intelligence inputs nearby areas were raided leading to arrest of three miscreants 1)  Mualtanglai(Jewel Singh) Halam 2) Neiaril (Lenin) Halam 3) Abdul Karim. Based on their examination police is conducting further search for arrest of remaining miscreants.
