AGARTALA, Dec 30 (TIWN): Mission Netaji Subash, an organization has paid tribute to Netaji Subash Chandra Bose at Agartala. The organization also thanked PM Modi for honouring Bose.
This year marks the 75th anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose unfurling the Indian flag at the Gymkhana Ground (now named Netaji stadium) at Port Blair, Andamans.
Bose did it with the help of Japanese forces who were fighting against the British in World War-II (1939-1945). This unfurling of the flag symbolically fulfilled Netaji’s promise of the Indian Army standing on the Indian soil by the end of 1943.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a two-day visit to Andaman & Nicobar Islands on Saturday, 29 December, during which he participated in a host of programmes including the 75th Anniversary of the hoisting of Tricolour on Indian soil by Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.
Modi will hoist the high-mast flag at South Point, Port Blair and at Netaji Stadium, he will release a commemorative postal stamp, coin and first day cover to mark the 75th Anniversary of the hoisting of Tricolour by Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.
Andaman's Ross Island, Neil Island and Havelock Island will get new names during the PM’s visit to Port Blair.Ross Island will then formally become Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Island, Neil Island will become Shaheed Dweep and Havelock Island will be Swaraj Dweep.
