Kailashahar Post Master’s atrocity boosted by political patronization
TIWN

KAILASAHAR/AGARTALA, October 1 (TIWN): Though the Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, very often, boasts of the sound and peaceful law and order in the state and apparently too it seems that state Tripura can be relied on for its peaceful political stability but the ground reality is polarized, actually.

The undue exercise of authority, political favoritism and nepotism have reached at such a height in a state that common men have nowhere to go. Especially, alongwith the red tapism and bureaucratic formalities, the atrocities of the Sarkari Babus in the government offices and departments are still vivid, in many interior places of the state. Geographical remoteness and staying away from media hype do not make the people in powe concerned about the hurdles being faced by the poor helpless people of rural Tripura.

Abhijit Deb, the Post Master (PM) of Kailasahar Sub Post Office was elevated into regular post in the year 2013 and since then, his existence and operation in the office has been acting as a curse for both his fellow workers and the customers of the post office at large. Neither the official is punctual nor he behaves well with the people visiting the office. “He has become a self imposed ultimate authority in the post office as everyone is living under his terror because he has well political back up with ruling party”, said a man of the locality (requesting anonymity) to TIWN reporter.

Kailasahar sub post office has six employees at present as two regular clerical staffs, two Group-D employees and two Post Masters. Abhijit is also reported to obtain his promotion by taking the local ruling party leaders, in confidence. “He also disobeys the instructions of his superiors”, said the localite. Political power is being exercised to keep the people in trouble and the patronisers are busy to keep the vote bank intact but to pay back the trust of the people bestowed on them for last more than 20 years.
