AGARTALA, September 30 (TIWN): The biggest festival of Durga Puja started across Tripura with religious pomp and gaiety. Thousands of devotees throng in front of all major puja pandals from the day of Sashti. However people already started thronging in to the Puja Pandals on Panchami night. On Mahashasti, the face of the Goddess is unveiled on Mahasasthi. With the unveiling of the idol, starts "Kalparambho", where the main ritual is "Bodhon" It is followed by "Amontron" and "Adhibas" sanctifying the place where Durga and her four children-Lakshmi, Ganesha, Saraswati and Kartik will reside for the next four days in the puja pandal. On the other hand, this year Durga Puja will be celebrated at 2335 places in Tripura including 1023 pujas in urban and 1312 pujas in rural areas. In the city near more than five hundred puja pandals had been decorated. Among them in West district the number exists to 723, Khowai-280, Gomati-265, South-251, Sepahijala-200, Unakoti-160, Dhalai-229, North-195.
Traffic system beefed up for the upcoming biggest festival of Durga Puja. The system this year becomes more tightened due to the increasing number of vehicles. At the same time threatening messages from Al-Qaeida also forcing Police to keep on high alert. During the puja time, traffic system starts functioning from Sasthi. This year also regulated the same system. Though, the gathering starts from panchami night. After the Government’s order on the periphery of the S P Traffic, this is the first time SP Traffic will be in control of the whole State. Besides these, on all districts Additional S.Ps will act as an Ex-Officio. Total of three thousand additional police and TSR personnel deployed in the State in addition to maintain the traffic system as well as law and order movement. Total Six Traffic Assistance Booths shall also be deployed at Agartala to render assistance to the people. However in case of issuing no-entry pass, the procedure will be maintained strictly. Unnecessary permits should not be issued. No-entry pass will be issued based on necessity. SP Traffic Smriti Rn. Das informed, every year 15000 applications are received by traffic department for issuing of Pass and near about 3000 passes were issued.
