KAMALPUR, September 28 (TIWN): Salema police unearthed the racket of self styled terrorists demanding a large amount from a neighbor. Last night, the S.I. of Salema police Station and Investigating Officer of this case, Mr. Goutam Debbarma netted the duo and today produced before the Court of SDJM, Kamalpur and got five days’ police custody for further investigation.
According to Salema P.S., some Harendra Namasudra of Khasiapunji and a the dealer of Jayantibazaar ration shop filed a complaint with the Salema police on 15/09/2014 that, on that very day some miscreants had dropped a letter at the gate of his house demanding an amount of 3,00,000 rupees. Furthermore, they claimed themselves as terrorists and threatened him with dire consequences if contacted with police. Salema Police registered a case no. 27/2014 under sections 387, 120(B) of IPC against the complaint and started investigation.
Meanwhile the culprits phoned Harendra several times, thretented with dire consequences and ultimately negotiated demanding a sum of 1,00,000 rupees. The investigating officer Goutam Debbarma, silently and secretly went with the matter and resorted that there was no terrorists but local hooligans behind the curtain.
Ultimately, yesterday the I.O. netted Tapan Namasudra, s/o- Sarada and Tarun Namasudra, s/o- Arjun, both residents of Khasiapunji for the pre-planned effort of grabbing money. However, this incident created much panicky among the locals and people are relieved a bit with the success of people.
