Manik Sarkar wakes up from long 'slumber', calls for 'Grand Alliance' among Non-BJP parties in Lok Sabha Election

AGARTALA, Nov 11 (TIWN): Tripura former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, who is also the Opposition leader, has finally woke up from his deep silence and slightly geared up for Lok Sabha Election. Since 8 months, Manik Sarkar has avoided media, hardly paid few visits whereas Statewide CPI-M activists were attacked, party offices were bulldozed. Sarkar has called for "Grand Alliance" among non-BJP parties saying "It will be good for democracy" by unseating the BJP Govt. "Opposition parties should not miss the opportunity and let BJP to win the election again. However, the alliance would be varied from state to state based on the situation and policies. In Tripura there is no possibility of alliance of CPI-M with Congress", said Sarkar. Manik Sarkar has slammed the BJP Govt in Centre and State for attacking democracy, creating unrest by dividing policy aimed to win the upcoming Election.

Addressing media, Manik Sarkar said, "It has been seen that BJP failed to draw vote banks and due to split among all non-BJP parties, BJP came in power in 2014. But till now BJP's base is weak and the protests against BJP's misruling is strengthening day by day. In this situation, BJP has chosen the divide & ruling policy. For the sake of democracy the alliance among the opposition parties are important and this chance of unseating BJP would not be missed out".

"A fascist attempt under BJP ruling is attacking the Indian constitution now. Judicial system have been tried to interfered for party's interest.  Election Commission has also not been spared. People are now questioning on the neutrality of Election Commission", Sarkar told media. 

Talking about Tripura condition Manik Sarkar said, "Poor people are deprive of works, MGNREGA works have been stopped, payments are delayed, poverty has gripped rural areas. They are unable to take commodities from ration shops which is affecting the overall economy". 

Manik Sarkar also criticized the State BJP Govt for continuous attacks upon the opposition,  bulldozing of statues and party offices. 

Sarkar has called all non-BJP parties to meet in "alliance" but statewide it may change. He also continued to confirm there is no chance of CPI-M's alliance with Congress (in Tripura).
