AGARTALA, Nov 11 (TIWN): ILS Hospital is accused of criminal extortion by various patients in the name of emergency care as Hospital continue looting patients for specialist treatment but actually Hospital kept only Trainee Doctor at night to serve hapless victims, charge Lakhs of rupees. A critical patient who was referred to ILS hospital from GB hospital for better care of the patient on October 31st was looted by ILS and also the patient was almost killed by taking her in ventilation (without asking the patient party) ended with 1.1 lakh bill in one night. Later it was known, Medicine Doctor Akash Chakma who was doing treatment was not the qualified doctor for the patient's as the brain stroke specialist Doctors are namesake and maximum times stay in Kolkata, but on paper they are shown by ILS as they are serving in Hospital. Later Govt Doctors expressed shocks over ILS’s activity of taking the patient in ventilation without explaining the patient party what is actually ventilation. TIWN has been furnished with the details about the patient named Anjali Debnath (58), resident of Udaipur Gomati District was suffering from various kinds of problems in the body from sugar to blood pressure, nervous system’s problem etc but ILS held her to spike up bills rather than actual treatment. ILS's criminal attempt to rob lakhs of money in the name of specialist treatment almost killed the patient, finally patient was saved by TMC / BRAM (B.R.Ambedkar Medical Hospital) Govt Doctors.

Anjali Debnath fell serious ill on October 25 early morning 3 am, immediately was taken to Gomati District Hospital. Being unsatisfied with Gomati District's service, she was referred to Hapania Hospital on October 26 but as the CT scan machine was non-functional she was taken to GB. At GB at first she was treated well for two days, but even after multiple requests ICU couldn't be arranged for her and in the medicine dept's chaos and shouting her condition deteriorated fully and at last she was unable to move or open eyes even after pushing injections.

Suddenly senior GB Doctors referred to ILS, saying "She needs special care". ILS told the patient party that per day they need to give around Rs. 10,000 but "patient is critical" and chances of of her living is 50 / 50, can't guarantee. However, the patient party agreed but on the next day ILS claimed the bill increased at 1.18 lakh, but there is no guarantee that patient will recover.

When seen in  visiting hours patient's family members suspected whether she is alive or not as "her tongue came out" and neck was falling but tightened with tape. After heavy arguments by patient party, she was brought in Hapania  and admitted. On November 9, Anjali Debnath was released with physically better condition, having some psychological issues.

TMC hospital Doctors led by Medical Superintendent Dr Arindam Dutta's expertise saved patient, also made her to recover from ventilation in two days.

State Health Minister Sudip Roy Barman's intense scrutiny, frequent visits improved Health Services in Agartala's  BRAM Hospital, also partially in GB Hospital.

BRAM Hospital and TMC's improvement, medical care also attributed to Health Minister's initiatives.

Here are glimpses of Tripura's Health Service and some crooked Doctors :

Gomati District Hospital Journey of Patient Anjali Debnath : On Laxmi Puja night (25 October 3 am) Anjali Debnath was rushed to the hospital. Doctor gave some medicine with saline but no test was suggested (Probably lack of infrastructure), neither doctor asked for refer. From the morning she was undergoing ‘madness’ situation but when asked, nurses told the patient that she was given with a medicine to cut the ‘poisonous affect’. Doctor Narayan Das,with criminal attitude continued negligence. Dr Narayan Das never visited hospital in time, doesn't matter if patients dying. Dr Das comes after his personal chamber, food, bath and rest. In evening also same. In Anjali Debnath's time, Dr Narayan Das was scheduled to come at 8 pm and came to the patient at 11 pm and said, "Nothing happened to her, she will be okay". No test was given by Dr/ Narayan Das and so her brain stroke was never understood . On the next day with patient party’s request patient Anjali Debnath was referred to BRAM (Hapania hospital)

Anjali Debnath's of 5-days experience in GB hospital : Even though with patient party's request, Anjali Debnath was referred to Hapania but the CT scan machine there was non-functional and thus from Hapania she was taken to GB. CT scan report came at GB hospital 3 days later which said she had “Brain Stroke”. In GB under Dr Pradip Bhowmik she was recovering stage for first two days but instead of keeping her in ICU, GB hospital kept her in female medicine ward, a place of full chaos, which had deteriorated her health from 30th October. Patient party continued to tell the Doctors but various Junior Doctors were prescribing her with various medicines and on 30st October she was referred to ILS in critical situation when her eyes were open with continuous shivering.

ILS HOSPITAL Admission and experiencing near Death under unqualified Junior Doctors

On 31st October Anjali Debnath was taken in ILS and all including nurses continued to say, "She is critical, nothing can be  said". ILS told patient party that per day around 10,000 will be the cost and the patient party agreed.

On the same night ILS called patient party saying “Come soon, it’s urgent”.

When the patient party was on road, one lady from ILS called and sweetly said, “Actually, we are taking her for MRI and before MRI we need to do some interaction so that we can know patient is able to go through the MRI. We just called you to tell you if you want to come and see her during interaction then you can see. It’s not at all serious”.

It created a doubt in patient party’s mind such as 1) How at late night MRI can be done ? 2) Why they said “urgent” earlier but now said “not serious” ?

Question raised among Anjali Debnath's family members, "Did she die ?" as various reports / news against ILS's criminal attempts are coming since years.

ILS told patient's husband, for MRI to ICU it will cost more money, but they didn’t allow him to see the patient.

On the next day they called the patient party in desk and Doctors told Anjali Debnath's husband that a bill of around 70,000 is pending till now since last night, which shocked. Till reaching at the billing section the bill was Rs. 86,000 whereas No MRI was done so far. Indeed nothing was done , no test at all.  After some time they said, the bill is Rs. 1.18 lakhs.

No specialist doctor was at ILS and one Dr Akash Chakma, a lameduck Doctor is responsible for the whole treatment.

When asked, Akash Chakma said, "50-50 chances she had, nothing can be said". But still, the Doctor didn't tell the patient party that she has been kept in Ventilation.

When at 5 pm they went in the MICU to see patient, they found her eyes are closed and thick. Artificial breathing (ventilation) was given to her. Her neck is tied with something and tongue has come out.

It created a doubt whereas the patient is dead or alive as her tongue came out.

They patient party told them, they will not keep the patient anymore, but ILS didn’t agree. When patient party said, they don’t have money, then ILS stopped medical care. ILS told them to find out a hospital which will give them ICU and ventilation so that they can release.

Patient Party moved the patient after paying hefty amount to ILS Hospital, accused ILS Hospital in indulging FAKE medical test bills overnight when no MRI or advance Tests were done.

Anjali Debnath's recovery at TMC / Hapania-BRAM Hospital :

After taking her in Hapania hospital, Dr Tahidul Islam started the care and informed the patient party that she has "eye-movement", "light psychological problem" but multiple organs stopped working. Still "we are trying".
(Hapania hospital has a system of telling the accurate condition of the patient and giving reports, whereas in ILS all are full of chaos, lift system for seeing patient etc. In Hapania one persob from patient party before the ICU is suggested to stay and everything is organized through system.).

On the next day, Dr Arindam Datta came (in morning). Dr Arindam Datta politely expressed shocks how ILS hospital without explaining the patient party “what is called ventilation” kept the patient in ventilation. However, without focusing on those issues, he started treatment said, "We are trying to save her" ! Such positive attitude of the Doctor gave strength to the patient party for first time.

It was also understood that GB hospital also did total negligence with patient party. An brain stroke patient must be kept in  ICU but no bed was available at there.

Everyday she was meeting with her "developing health". Within 3 days, Doctors of TMC led by Dr Arindam Datta brought her out of ventilation (also confirmed she never went in coma) and on day 7 her oxygen mask was also removed. However, due to psychological problem it gave hardtimes for the Doctors to open her eyes. Two times blood was given to her.

On November 9, she was released with 1 month's medicine and Doctors mentioned ofcourse her criticality with "psychological" problem which will be cured in time with psycho-therapy  but "Let her be cured physically first", said Dr Arindam Datta to the patient party.

ILS Hospital's Extortion Machinery to loot Public

In 24 hours by creating 1.1 lakh bill without proper treatment, no specialist doctor and without permission of the patient party taking the patient in ventilation in business orientation mind is not the first allegation against ILS.

Dr Akash Chakma did the whole treatment in one night of Rs. 1.1 lakh but she is in artificial support of oxygen at Hapania hospital whereas till GB she never need any oxygen support until gone to ILS Akash Chakma kept on saying that patient’s chance is 50-50.

In this way without specialist doctors ILS’s mafia-raj, looting of people’s money in exchange of dead bodies. Many allegations are there that whenever a critical patient comes, ILS instead of doing treatment given ventilation so that with dead body they can make lakhs of money.

Kolkata businessman Om Tantia and Tripura's former Govt officer Kishore Ambuly run ILS Hospital now accused of looting patients in the name of emergency medical care. Former Secretary cum Manik Sarkar's close aide Kishore Ambuly is also accused in corruption of alloting Govt Prime Land to ILS Hospital during the tenure of Manik Sarkar's Chief Ministership. In exchange of prime Govt land to ILS Hospital, Kishore Ambuly secured his post-retirement lucrative post from owner Om Tantia as Chief Operating Officer of ILS Agartala Hospital.

ILS Hospital also accused of not taking measures to make Hospital germ free as other hospitals doing to kill all germs in regular intervals.

Its hightime that Tripura Govt should initiate an independent investigation to close down ILS Hospital, seize the corruptly allocated Govt Prime Land  and all other Govt Tax free benefits.
