Agartala, Sept 27 (TIWN):500 Years Old Mosque at Dimatali is a major factor for cause of decay and damaged to the historical monument. Besides, the stone surface of the monuments, fluctuation in day and night temperature are also the factors responsible for damaged to the monument.

The monuments have been neglected for decades and, in some instances, we will also need to undo the damage done to them through poorly-executed repairs not in sync with the architecture.

This monuments are not only in a deplorable condition but are being overrun by squatters who are growing in numbers with every passing month. It is imperative that conservation work is very much necessary.

Public demand is to preserve the old monument at an earliest.
