AGARTALA, September 26 (TIWN): The suspension of Pijush Kanti Biswas and Prashanta Sen Chowdhury created dissension among the Congress Party. It is to be mentioned here that Pijush Kanti Biswas and Prashanta Sen Chowdhury had been suspended from the PCC for their anti-Party activities. Both are elected members of AICC State Legal and Human Rights Department. But on another hand Birajit Sinha and Ratan Lal Nath has supported the two advocates.

 While speaking to TIWN, opposition leader Sudip Roy Barman told that” I have welcomed the party’s decision.”. Party has taken the right decision as there is enough evidence against the two candidates for having disobeyed the party decisions. “He further added Mr. Biswas have violated the Act of Congress constitution and join hands with CPIM only for achieving the Bar Council Chairman Post.

On the other hand Pijush Kanti Biswas on his reaction told that the” Bar Council is a statutory body. There is no place for politics.” He has been appointed as Chairman unanimously. He further said that the charge of disobeying the party strategy is not true. 

It is to be mentioned here that Shri Biswas and Shri Chowdhury has been alleged of disobeying the party’s decision. It is claimed that Biswas could not do much for the lawyers because of having two members in the Committee and that was the reason for merging with CPIM.However the election of the Tripura Bar Council was held on 5^th of this month. In the election three panels had taken part. But none of them have achieved total majority. Congress Lawyers cell bagged six seats and CPIM panel got six seats. Individual contestant Purushottam Roy Barman got one seat.

Naturally the question arises of electing the Chairman of the Bar Council. On the other hand Congress totally disagreed  in qualition with the CPIM. The Party held a meeting with the two victory candidate Pijush Kanti Biswas and Prashant Sen Chowdhury and decided to support Arun Kanti Bhowmik as a Chairman. But during the selection surprisingly,it is observed that by violating party’s decision Shri chowdhury has nominated the name of Pijush Kanti Biswas as Chairman.This created a haphazard condition in the Congress LT Cell.

Immediately after that urgent meeting of the party decided to suspend the duo for defying the party whips. In a press statement, TPCC general secretary Muzibur Islam Majumder said, “Biswas and Sen Choudhury are placed under suspension for having acted against the party’s directive in formation of the Committee of the Bar Council of Tripura”.On the other hand in a fitting reply to the party,  Pijush Kanti Biswas merged with CPIM to form a fifteen member committee of Bar Council.
