'Be Positive' : Minister Sudip Barman tells terminated 10323 teachers

AGARTALA, Oct 8 (TIWN): Health Minister Sudip Barman on Monday while addressing in a blood donation camp organized by terminated 10323 teachers, who are now doing ad-hoc basis jobs asked the terminated teachers not to think negatively, but to be positive. The Health Minister also told them, if Supreme Court's verdict goes against them, then also Govt will think alternative for the teachers but right now the teachers should think in positive way so that they can focus on their works and many positive outcomes will be seen. "I know the teachers under 10323 are facing tremendous challenges everyday due to their tensions centering their uncertain future, but what I would request that do not think in negative way. The case is pending at Supreme Court, let the court give the verdict first. From Govt side, we have told the Supreme Court about the teachers crisis issues in Tripura schools. So, we don't see any problem at all but if the verdict is unexpected then Govt will think what can be done. Right now just be positive".

Background of terminated 10323 teachers case :  A division bench of the high court, comprising Chief Justice Deepak Gupta and Justice Swapan Chandra Das, had passed then order May 7, 2014 terminating the jobs of 10,323 school teachers after Dec 31, citing irregularities in recruitment and SC has upheld High Court's 2014 verdict.

On March 29, 2017, the Supreme Court also held High Court's order and terminated the teachers. Supreme Court in a humanaitarian gesture to 10323 teachers mentioned that the teachers will continue their jobs till 2017, 31st Dec.

Later with the request of Tripura Govt, the Supreme Court added 6 months of ad hoc basis jobs for the teachers which was to be ended on June 30, 2018.

After BJP led new Govt came in power it appealed the Supreme Court for the extension of two years more in the ad hoc. The next hearing date is on October 24 and the teachers to continue their jobs till then until Supreme Court gives the final verdict.
