AGARTALA, Oct 7 (TIWN): At least 21 gamblers were arrested from the capital city on Sunday in a drive led by West Agartala Police.
The drive was held by cops at Battala Suyor-Patti Bazar area and caught 21 gamblers red-handed. Few attempted to escape but police arrested them.
Addressing media, OC-Subrata Chakraborty said that against each of the culprit case to be lodged and they will be sent to the court for being involved in anti-social activities.The police officer also mentioned, there is no partiular mastermind behind the crime as whoever engages him in gambling becomes culprit.
'Teer' gambling is going on unabated creating a unsocial atmosphere in the entire state. More and more people have started making cash bets upon prohibited betting and gambling activities in all most all the district.
Total 50,880 rupees were seized along with calculators, notebooks.
