Tripura Economy crippled under 7 months JUMLA: Poverty, Fund crisis hit Tripura Durga Puja season, Markets gloom : Puja organizer Clubs depressed under low budget

AGARTALA, Oct 5 (TIWN): JUMLA Party’s 7 months misrule crippled Tripura economy to such extent that no cash flow like every year to celebrate Durga Puja season. Much popular club in capital city, Ramthakur Sangha cashier has expressed worries ahead of the upcoming Durga puja, even though they have not increased the budget this year. Much hyped 2 days Durga puja works will only pay the poors Rs. 320 (Rs. 160 per mandays). In this regard, Ex-Finance Minister CPI-M MLA Badal Choudhury has slammed the ruling BJP for acute food crisis ongoing across ADC areas at South Tripura. Choudhury alleged, due to less MGNREGA works, food crisis started to grip tribal populated areas at South Tripura leading massive starvation, whereas MP Shankar Prasad Datta alleged same about Agartala city, where even the business yet to kick off when 10 days have left before Durga puja. Only 22 mandays of MGNREGA works held in whole South Tripura District under the new Govt, resulting acute food crisis has occupied the families. Few of the affected areas are : Sripur, Maluram Bari, Sonaibari Ratanpur under Hrishyamukh block, along with Ramnagar Jolai Bari block's various areas.On Friday, CPI-M's wing CITU has protested against the ongoing food and work crisis in the state since 7 months at Paradise Chowmuhani.

A massive protest was staged at Paradise Chowwmuhani, Agartala in demand of more numbers of works for poor people. 

Addressing media, MP Shankar Prasad Datta said, "Across the state, acute crisis of work and food are going on. From 6 to 7 months since the BJP Govt came in power we are observing MGNREGA works have been stopped almost".

"Whereas the previous CPI-M Govt had arranged 42 days mandays, this year we can see only 33 days works have been kept in the budget but in reality only 10 to 12 days of work have been done", the MP said.

"We want MGNREGA works should be given to poor people before the Durga Puja. Due to work crisis also business are running at loss. The shops are opened but sales are very less", he added.

Badal Choudhury said in a press meet, "We have met the people of those areas. Due to lack of MGNREGA works they are unable to manage two times meals and also because of bio-metric system's introduction they can't take grains from the ration shops".Agartala Clubs are worried of Puja Budget, blames 'markets down', 'collection low' 

"The collection is not enough as expected. People are unable to pay, whereas last year before asking donations used to come. Around 25 lakhs budget has been estimated however. We are facing a lot of troubles in collecting puja chandas (donations) as puja markets are not as good as last year. That's why we are worried", much popular Ramthakur Sangha's club members said.
