AGARTALA, Oct 5 (TIWN): CPI-M's wing CITU has protested against the ongoing food and work crisis in the state since 7 months.
A massive protest was staged at Paradise Chowwmuhani, Agartala in demand of more numbers of works for poor people.
Addressing media, MP Shankar Prasad Datta said, "Across the state, acute crisis of work and food are going on. From 6 to 7 months since the BJP Govt came in power we are observing MGNREGA works have been stopped almost".
"Whereas the previous CPI-M Govt had arranged 42 days mandays, this year we can see only 33 days works have been kept in the budget but in reality only 10 to 12 days of work have been done", the MP said.
"We want MGNREGA works should be given to poor people before the Durga Puja. Due to work crisis also business are running at loss. The shops are opened but sales are very less", he added.
