The forum reiterated its demand to declare either Saturday or Monday as Car Holiday in the state administration for a good practice and better administration. Build cycle tracks in the main street of Agartala and other towns, because the state government provided cycle to the school girls but did not assure safety on the street owing to which use of bicycles among students were found to be ebbing every year.
A number of schools in the Agartala city marked the day in brief program to popularize non-motorised mode of transportation and walking for health and environment instead of using car.
ACC earlier asked the state government to declare 22nd September as Car Free Day and restrict the use of vehicle instead encourage pull car or mass transport to contribute in India’s oil import bill and environment. The state government was found to be unresponsive anyway
