AGARTALA, Sep 30 (TIWN): Narendra Modi’s Swatch Bharat (Clean India) campaign turned a comedy show by BJP Politicians as Ministers, MLAs choosing to sweep ‘clean roads’ rather than targeting dirty corners of cities. On Sunday morning at Bodhjung Chowmuhani, Agartala, clean shaved, bathed, crispy dressed Chief Minister Biplab Deb targeted a clean road to sweep alongwith BJP workers. Surprisingly, Politicians are avoiding Agartala’s dirtiest parts like Gol Bazar ( Maharajganj Bazar), Batttala Bazar, various markets. Due to CPI-M era’s wrong decisions of cement covering drains which stopped cleaning drainage systems are now resulting overflooding streets after a splash of rain.

AMC Mayor Prafullajit Sinha and other officials were present when Chief Minister did ‘Swachh Bhartat’ ritual for Photo-Ops. Even though Swatchh Bharat concept is noble but why BJP Ministers are choosing clean streets or middle of highways clean areas to sweep ? Why not visiting City's dirty areas and clean garbage in Gol Bazar or Battala Bazar ?

ON 2 OCTOBER 2014just months into his job as prime minister, Narendra Modi launched the Swachh Bharat Mission, the so called most ambitious cleanliness campaign.

Not by coincidence, this was the very date of the birth anniversary of Mohandas Gandhi. Modi, in dramatic style, appeared before a battery of cameras to sweep the courtyard of a police station in a Dalit residential colony in central Delhi. “A clean India would be the best tribute India could pay to Mahatma Gandhi on his one-hundred-and-fiftieth birth anniversary in 2019,” he said, promising to transform sanitation and waste-management in the country by that day.

Unfortunately, Swatchh Bharat remained as BJP's political symbol rather than actual cleaniness as all BJP ruled states dirty areas remained dirty as before.

Even in Tripura, which is much cleaner than other part of India due to lack of industries, Swachh Bharat was nothing other than an eye catching programme to generate votebanks.
