AGARTALA, Sep 29 (TIWN): On the occasion of World Heart Day, Tripura Health Minister Sudip Barman has called for a healthy life style to avoid heart diseases.
The Health Minister inaugurated a programme on it at Pragna Bawan which was organized by Apollo Gleneagles hospitals , Kolkata in collaboration of state NCD Cell and NHM Tripura.
Addressing at Pragna Bhawan programme, Sudip Barman said, "Across the Globe awareness campaigns are going to keep our hearts pure, but we have observed it 17.3 million deaths occur every year due to heart attacks".
"To prevent these premature deaths which are due to lack of awareness and lack of good practices we need to change our lifestyle. Even though we are aware about the facts but we don't bother. We don't maintain healthy lifestyle, our food habits are very bad, we smoke, we drink a lot", Sudip Barman said.
"We can prevent 80 % chances of heart attacks if we can adopt a healthy lifestyle, we can change our food habits or heavy diets, finishing dinner within 8 to 9 pm, to sleep early, wake up early, take exercise.........all these things are to be communicated with the society. Then only the celebration will be meaningful which is to look after my heart and your heart".
