AGARTALA, September 22 (TIWN): A state level workshop on Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (RSBY) was organized by Health and Family Welfare department in association with Royal Sundaram Alliance Insurance Company limited at Pragna Bhavan here today.
Speaking in the workshop minister for Labour Sahid Choudhury said that Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (RSBY) is a unique scheme which empowers the card holders to get cashless treatment from all RSBY network hospitals across India public and private both. The beneficiaries under the scheme will have to pay the nominal registration fee of Rs. 30 to get them enrolled under the scheme. The scheme covers hospitalization expenses of a BPL unorganized families, MGNREGA job card holder families, Beedi workers and street vendors of five members up to Rs. 30,000. Beneficiaries can get avail benefits in any of the network hospitals for hospitalization of surgical or non surgical treatments, listed day care treatment, including maternity benefit and also covering new born for remaining policy period. The scheme also provides transportation cost of Rs. 100 per visit with an overall limit of Rs. 1000 per year.
He further said that Royal Sundaram Alliance Insurance Company limited the first private sector general insurance company to be licensed in India, had signed MoU with the government of Tripura in February 13, 2012 to implement Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (RSBY) scheme. More than Rs. 5.05 lakh families and Rs. 20.55 lakh lives are covered by the scheme in the state after the addition of MGNREGA families. About Rs. 1.38 lakh claims all across the seven districts have been settled so far, he mentioned.
