AGARTALA, Sep 27 (TIWN): Agartala Municipal Corporation has proposed a budget of Rs. 21871.99 for the year 2018-19. AMC Mayor Prafullajit Sinha has tabled the budget.

This has been possible due to grant by the State Govt, increase of Tax & Non-Tax income of AMC and section of various projects under SOT, 14th FC, Smart City, TUEP / SUEP, NULM and other schemes.

In the last year AMC constructed 6.85 km road, 4 nos, culvert, 4.5 km drains, developed and maintained 4 nos municipal markets, 20 nos. tubewell, developed municipal parks, cremation ground, constructed new municipal warn office, undertaken repair and maintenance of AWC, construction of public toilets, improvement of water body, construction of municipal school, procured 250 tri cycle, 300 nos, 1.1 cum container for SWM etc. 

The major item of expenditure was the street light system, for procurement and the installation of new CFL, fittings, extensions of LT line, extension of street lights etc have spent for Rs. 1193 lakhs.

During 2018-19 AMC had allocated Rs. 1365 lakhs. 

More 380.4 lakhs were spent in Durga Chowmuhani, Battala areas construction, maintenance etc, whereas during 2018-19 Rs. 305 lakhs have been allocated for development of Municipal markets.

For development of parks (Thakur Prabhat Roy park), renovation of Pragati Park, Jagannath bari Park, Children's park during 2017-18 Rs. 65 lakhs were allocated whereas in 2018-19 Rs. 140 lakhs have been allocated.

Drains construction in 2017-18 spent Rs. 115 lakhs, whereas in 2018-19 Rs. 410 lakhs to be spent.

Road construction in 2017-18 spent Rs. 239.50 lakhs and in 2018-19 Rs. 510 lakhs have been allocated by AMC.

ADB funded Drinking Water Project 90 % is completed and now for wages, payments Rs. 5558 lakhs have been allocated this year. 

For implementation of SBM (construction of individual and construction toilets) Rs. 200 lakhs have been allocated. 

An amount of Rs. 450 lakhs have been allocated for rehabilitation of slum dweller & economically weaker section by constructing multistoried dwelling units.
