AGARTALA, Sep 27 (TIWN): After the bus, auto fares were hiked State Transport Dept jumped in action for around 15 days to control unruly bus drivers, conductor and identifying the mini buses and ordinary buses which gave a feeling among common men that Govt is with the public, but after few days of fooling the masses the Dept is now totally silent and also opened the hands of drivers, conductors for unruliness and if any passenger deny to pay "extra fares" then surely will be abused with stone-pelting words. Already various buses are taking 3 rupees / 5 rupees extra saying "diesel price" is now at 75 rupees. They also tell the passengers if diesel price is down then fare will be down automatically, giving a feeling a total "Jungle Raj" is hovering across the State. Tripura Govt hiked fares, taxes, imposed cess on fuel and yesterday Central Govt increased more taxes on various commodities. But no Pay Commission, No DA, No wage hike happened in last 6 months whereas due to diesel price hikes, passengers are bound to give extra fares including students and poor people. Why doesn't the Govt introduce ticket system, which is common in other states ?

Amid enough fares were hiked in last 6 months, the illegal fare charges by bus conductors are hitting the common men till day.

Public in complaint have drawn Tripura Transport Minister Pranajit Singha Roy's attention to introduce slip / ticket distribution system for each bus.

Todays diesel rates in Agartala are very sensitive to global crude prices. We have been seeing an uptick in global crude prices, which has also pushed diesel rates in Agartala higher. Also, prices of the petroleum product have now been aligned to market rates. This means diesel price in Agartala will rise each time, global crude prices rise and the rupee falls against the dollar.
