AGARTALA, Sep 23 (TIWN): Aimed to aware children to save the Ozone Layer of earth an art competition was conducted at Sukanta Academy on Sunday.

The programme was organized by Science & Technology, Environment Dept.

Generally Sep 16 is observed as the Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer. However, centering the day, today the dept has marked the occasion with awareness like programme through art competition.

September 16 was designated by the United Nations General Assembly as the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer. This designation had been made on December 19, 2000, in commemoration of the date, in 1987, on which nations signed the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer.
