AGARTALA, Sep 20 (TIWN): Demanding faster move of CBI and State Govt's attention in slowly-investigated Tripura's young journalist Santanu Bhoumik murder case who was killed before a year, Tripura journalists have paid tribute to him (Late Santanu Bhoumik).

Candles were lighted under the banner of "Forum for Protection of journalists", in front of Rabindra Bhawan attended by around 30 journalists.

However, no journalist is satisfied with the investigation speed of CBI when Chief Minister Biplab Deb didn't bother to dedicate a single tweet from Delhi for the slain journalist, whereas before the election BJP took the highest mileage of Santanu's killing by politicizing the murder incident, even though the main accused were none other than BJP's ally IPFT, which aligned with BJP to unseat the previous Left Govt.

On that time journalists also burnt "press jacket" in front of the then Chief Minister Manik Sarkar's residence who didn't visited Agartala Press Club when Santanu's dead body arrived on the next day.

Santanu Bhoumik was killed on September 20, 2017 when he was collecting news during IPFT led violence in Mandai. Santanu during a political clash was hit by heavy stick on his head and soon he was stretched to a jungle and was brutally killed.

In last year on November 21, another journalist of Sandyan newspaper Sudip Datta Bhoumik was shot dead at Tripura State Rifles (TSR) 2nd Bn HQ allegedly by Commandant Tapan Debbarma.

However both the cases have been handed over to CBI.

It's hoped that CBI will do proper investigation and speed up the whole process.
