BJP Govt's 10000 crores NHIDCL Scam : BJP backs State Govt, denies 'scam' charges

AGARTALA, Sep 18 (TIWN): Two days after Congress brought serious allegation against BJP led State Govt for appointing NHIDCL for road construction work without tender, BJP has backed its Govt.

Even though from State Transport Dept or Chief Minister's office no document / published notice could be shown till day about any tender with NHIDCL on 10,000 crores roadway project, but BJP has rubbished Congress's allegation.

Addressing in a press conference, BJP General Secretary Pratima Bhowmik said that Congress's allegation is totally fake and baseless.

"We though Congress will help the Govt for development but unfortunately it's halting development. NHIDCL is run by centre, State Govt does not know anything about that. Gopal Roy has lost his mind", the BJP leader told media.

The press conference was called by BJP General Secretary after Congress exposed that without tender Govt of India’s undertaken organization National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation (NHIDCL) a the investment of 10,000 crores for 995.91 km road. Congress leader Gopal Roy said, this is the biggest ever scam ever held in Tripura and Chief Minister Biplab Deb is directly connected with the scam.

“In Govt of India’s General Financial rules 2017 and Tripura Govt’s Delegation of Financial Power rules clearly says, without tender no work should be given to any company. On June 27 a meeting was held at Delhi, Transport Bhawan in the presence of Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Highways, Principal Secretary of the Dept YS Malik, and high officials as Manoj Kumar, SC Mandal.From Tripura along with Chief Minister Biplab Deb, CM’s OSD Bijay Chibbar, Chief Engineer (NH) Rajib Debbarma, Add Chief Engineer (NH) Subrata Banik. On the other side, from NHIDCL K.V. Rajawat, NHIDCL Chief was present. In that meeting the decision was taken and on July 18, 2018 Chibbar had given note of the decision”, Gopal Roy said.

However, why the tender was not given violating guidelines, the BJP General Secretary couldn’t say anything in this regard.
