AGARTALA, Sep 10 (TIWN): Bandh’s 100% success is a major political defeat for ruling BJP as Tripura’s majority public vented anger against JUMLA Party’s fraudsters. Opposition parties called strike remained successful without any picketing amid BJP Govt's constant warning, threats, open goonda-raj, forcing businessmen to open shops, employees to join office. Hence it has been a tight slap to 6 months old BJP Govt. BJP had never prepared for such a jolt, people-less, vehicle-less road in Agartala on Monday morning following Congress, CPI-M called 'bandh' and 'hartal'. Even after Govt's warnings Banks, Petrol Pumps remained closed in Agartala City, vehicles didn't give any service. Indeed, public response to 12 hrs strike on fuel price hike has finally proven, 'All is not Well' in Tripura under BJP Govt.
People's frustrations have evolved with much response to the strike across banks, motor stands, private institutions. 100 % successful strike by opposition just on the 6th month of completion is itself exception, shows in which direction BJP is going.
Congress President Birjit Sinha said, "Govt employees also have given huge response to the strike. Tripura's people are angry, frustrated".
Rigging, forcefulness, bulldozing of opposition party leaders' statues to party offices, termination of employees, insults of teachers, BDOs before mass, withdrawal of pension scheme, stopping job recruitment, imposing taxes have resulted in jolt for the Govt, when Lok Sabha Election is nearby and by-election is knocking the door.
The BJP activists however forced few petrol pump dealers to open the petrol pump and pour petrol in their bikes' tankers.
CPI-M State Secretary Bijan Dhar said, "We didn't do anything during the 'hartal'. But without any picketing public response is beyond expectation. In few places BJP miscreants attempted to force the businessmen to open shops, which has generated much anger among the public".
The 12 hours strike was observed with 100 % success till 12 noon but with BJP's forcefulness few shops opened but across Tripura people enjoyed the strike at home, saving fuels of their vehicles.
The nationwide shutdown or Bharat Bandh called by the opposition Congress, Left and other parties against the increasing prices of fuel affected normal life in the BJP-ruled Tripura on Monday.
Most markets, shops and business establishments were closed and private and passenger vehicles remained off the roads. Government offices and some banks were open but employee attendance was low.
Inspector General of Police (Law and Order) K.V. Sreejesh said that there were no untoward incidents reported from any part of the state.
