AGATALA, Sep 5 (TIWN): Along with the whole nation, Tripura also celebrated the 54th Teachers' Day on Wednesday.
On the day, with the celebration, the population remembers the great educationist Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakhrishnan. Besides, the students place honour and gratitude o their beloved teachers by offering them flowers, greeting cards and gifts as the token of love of affection to their favourite teachers, who made their life knowledgeable and fulfilled.
The main programme was conducted at Rabindra Bhawan in the presence of CM Biplab Deb, Chief Secretary Sanjeev Ranjan, Deputy CM Jishnu Debbarma, Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath. In each subdivision similar programmes were held.
Deputy CM Jishnu Debbarma said, "Even Kings are also afraid of enemies, but only knowledgeable persons are unafraid of anything".
Addressing media CM said, "Transfer often hits employees, but believe me, Tripura is a small state. So Gandacherra like places may be felt far away but it's actually very close if you compare with other states. I worked here above 2 years and my children were far away to me but if I didn't work here thinking about them only, then this change would not come ever in Tripura. I was here and my children were there (Delhi), but due to distance they were never far from my life".
"Many teachers are there who changes students' lives. It's a false idea you have to stay with your children all the time. Infact Dr B R Ambedkar was not supported by his parents but was helped by a Brahmin teacher, who helped him to get education", CM added.
