AGARTALA, Sep 4 (TIWN): Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb on Tuesday has claimed that Photosynthesis was discovered by India before lakhs of years and Indians since ages knew that trees release oxygen.

Citing Tree-worshiping logic behind believing in his claim, CM further told media persons here, "When people feel tried they sit under tree for oxygen".

"The country (India) where I born, exactly since when people worship trees nobody knows. It is only India where trees are worshiped", he added.

It was a plantation programme at the Secretariat and CM was asked by a journalist to say about the importance of tree-plantation. In reply CM has claimed this.

It can be noted, Jan Ingenhousz (born December 8, 1730, Breda, Netherlands—died September 7, 1799, Bowood, Wiltshire, England) is globally believed as the discoverer of Photosynthesis. However, the discovery is claimed more researchers names.
