Congress dares CM for CBI probe on internal audit, demands ouster of Finance Minister

AGARTALA, September 18 (TIWN): The Tripura Pradesh Congress today demanded ouster of Finance Minister Bhanulal Saha from the state cabinet for alleged involvement in scams unearthed at the Bishalgarh sub-division in special internal audits of the accounts of the BDO.Addressing the media at the Pradesh Congress Bhawan here this evening, opposition leader Sudip Roy Barman said that the audit relating to 2012-2013, 2013-2014 said that Chief Minister Manik Sarkar feigns honesty but is actually the kingpin of all incidents of corruption running in his regime.Roy Barman challenged Chief Minister Sarkar to put the internal audit report for probe and demanded that an investigation on the document speaking on sixteen irregularities found during internal audit be constituted and handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

The opposition leader further said that Bhanulal Saha, recently inducted into the state cabinet, was inducted in the list of ministers to hush up the scam.

“We have reasons to believe that Finance Minister Saha is directly or indirectly involved with each of the scams. We demand his ouster from the cabinet and a CBI enquiry on the subject”, Roy Barman said.

Congress today lambasted the state government for giving relaxation in bringing all government officials and functionaries under the ambit of Lokayukta. “They spent Rs. 75 lakhs for constituting the Lokayukta and no Lokayukta report was made public in the last three consecutive years”, he said.

The internal audit report of Bishalgarh RD block exposed misappropriation of government funds of Rs. 2,22,21,964 without executing works against work orders issued under MG NREGS, PDS, TFC etc, purchase of bricks from supplierxs without receiving bricks resulting in non-execution of works, generating man-days of Rs. 4,06,89,117 utilized unauthorized funds towards material cost made to other people depriving job card holders etc, doubtful execution of work of Rs. 26.47 lakhs, misappropriation in MG NREGS, distribution of poly tea nursery plants etc.
