AGARTALA, Aug 27 (TIWN): CPI-M leaders were attacked by Agartala Gol Bazar BJP goons when they were raising funds for flood hit Kerala. After stopped by BJP goons at Gol Bazar from fund collection, CPI-M leaders have slammed the ruling BJP saying, “This culture is very pathetic, can’t exist for longâ€. Addressing media, CPI-M leader, Ex-Deputy speaker Pabitra Kar said, “To help the flood hit Kerala, we had started our donation collection from August 21 and it will be continued till August 31st, which is known to everyone. Now we are raising funds in small markets and people are giving whatever they like, but it’s really sad that BJP’s culture and tradition which has been taught to the activists. When we started the collection a group who doesn’t look like even shop-keeper stopped us and said no fund can be raised from here, whatever has been done it has been already done by Govt. In the whole country, collections for flood hit Kerala has been started. This is the first state where people have been attackedâ€.“The culture which has been taught by BJP is very bad. It will not be continued for long. Indeed the BJP people are saying not to collect money as business is at loss". Pabitra Kar told media.
“This is just not even 6 months and people are saying like this. Kerala flood needs 25 cr for recovering. Tripura Govt has given 1 cr only. Central Govt has said only 600 cr will be given”, he added.
“We’r still collecting moneys for Kerala. People are willingly donating. CPI-M activists at least have given 100 rupees without asking. Till now only in the west district 2.75 lakhs have been collected. We ourselves are giving”, Kar said.
“On yesterday also same happened with Pratapgarh. We are collecting funds for a flood hit state and their activists are reacting like this. We believe, people will do justice in coming days”, Kar added.
