AGARTALA, Aug 27 (TIWN): Chaos has hit National Institutes of Technology (NIT) Agartala on Monday when dozens of locals have blocked NIT main gate putting objection on outsiders’ entry in lower rank workers' appointment in the College. Since around morning 9 am to 12 noon the main gate was locked which led heavy problems for the students and faculties. Nobody was allowed to enter in the campus by the agitators. According to the locals, in Agartala main areas there are many projects and works going on. Those workers can be appointed at there, instead of appointing them in the NIT. If outsider workers are being appointed in NIT then how the locals will get works ? Sources of NIT said that there is no link of College recruitment and their protest. A Hyderabad based company has been appointed to take care of such matters and these ongoing projects are also done by the company.
Since many years such projects are done by private companies where locals and outsider both are appointed. However, after NIT Director Prof. H. K. Sharma talked to the locals and called for a meeting inside the College, then the blockade was withdrawn after 12 pm.
Local sources said, they have own leaders who is working in that area and also doing politics at there. The leaders work for the local’s welfare and recently few workers were appointed who do not belong to this area. Being asked by the leaders in telephone, how they were recruited, the company officials allegedly told them that they have been recommended by the Chief Minister himself. They have also kept the phone call record with them.
The unwanted blockade has created problems for the students and the faculties.
