CM reviews SSA progress, forms special body for evaluation of education

Agartala, September 17 (TIWN): In an act of admission of poor quality of education in public schools, Chief Minister Manik Sarkar today formed a special committee to monitor quality and effectiveness of education imparted to students in schools.

Addressing a meeting of the state general body the Sarva Siksha Abhiyan at Agartala here today, Chief Minister Sarkar said that teachers and school authorities would have to fulfill the mandate of ensuring 100 percent student attendance in the schools. He said that schools needed to have standalone evaluation mechanisms to check effectiveness of education on the students.

A special committee would be soon formed with Headmasters, Assistant Headmasters, Headmaster in-charge of senior teachers of public and government aided schools of the state to monitor the internal evaluation process. The body would involve delegates form guardians and local educationists, activists promoting education etc as well.

The committee would have to evaluate a set of parameters to judged effectiveness of school education every three months, Chief Minister Manik Sarkar said.

A detailed notification pertaining to the subject would be sent to all school authorities by September 30 this year.

The CM today urged for regular school visits by the Inspector of Schools (IS) and said that District Magistrates (DM), Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDM) and officials of the Department of School Education would have to join the visits in regular intervals. All concerned officials would be visiting at least five schools to assess the quality of education imparted to students every month.

Chief Minister Sarkar urged the Tripura (Central) University authorities to assess possibilities of introducing B.Ed courses in general government degree colleges of the state to train its untrained teachers serving under the Department of School Education.
