AGARTALA, September 16 (TIWN): Police seized 400 liters of country-made liquor and 159 bottles of foreign liquor at central road here this afternoon.
Speaking to TIWN officer-in-charge of Maharaj Ganja bazaar out post Rana Chatterjee said that acting on a tipoff a search operation was conducted in the central road area and we recovered 400 liters of country-made liquor and 159 bottles of foreign liquor from a Auto bearing number (TR01-D-2924). The auto was coming from the opposite direction towards Agartala to sell the illegal country-made liquor and also the 159 foreign liquor bottles.
The driver of the auto and another person was also arrested namely Utpaul Majumder resident of Pratapghar and Shapal Das resident of Malaynagar and both the arrested persons were produced before that court today, the officer added. The vehicle and five bicycles were also seized by the police. It may be mentioned here that on 3rd September a total of 350 liters of country-made liquor was recovered near Bortala Bridge
