AGARTALA, Aug 14 (TIWN): Only Politicians in India are given free licenses to speak "anything" against anyone for political propaganda. Chief Minister Biplab Deb even didn’t leave IPS officers from his political speech to affirm the crime rate was more during Manik Sarkar’s time than the BJP era.
Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb while addressing in a blood donation camp organized by Lotus Club, claimed that Police officers including DGP A K Shukla, IG-Law & Order K V Sreejesh were inactive till BJP came in power.
"Crime rate has been downed in Tripura, which is said not by me but by data". CM further raised question, why the Police were unable to arrest the criminals earlier under the previous govt ? "The same DGP A K Shukla was heading the Police Dept, IG-Law & Order was same K V Sreejesh but why they could not act ? Total 7 thieves were arrested on yesterday night and police have also recovered the theft items, but in last 25 years why police couldn't perform ?", CM said.
“The officers are same. Police are same. Then why police couldn’t work on that. They are the same persons A K Sukla and Sreejesh but why they could not work on that time ?”, he added.
However, it can be recalled, may be due to political influence or mistrust upon the previous Govt Police’s life at HQ turned miserable after journalists were murdered led DGP A K Shukla to tell media persons on that time if media know who killed journalists than there is no need of police.
Constant demand of CBI, mistrust upon police led frustration in Tripura police and DGP was bound to tell media on that time, "CBI are comprised of some IPS Officers like us and so please trust us".
Now, finally CBI has booked 300 IPFT activists names following police’s chargesheet. But CM claimed, DGP and other police officers were inactive in Manik Sarkar’s time ?
