AGARTALA, Aug 14 (TIWN): The West Tripura Police has kept a hawk-eye vigil over the capital, especially around the Assam Rifles parade ground and the surrounding areas where Chief Biplab Deb will unfurl the national flag and will deliver speech on the Independence Day.

Along with the nation Tripura will also observe 72nd Independence Day on August 15.

Preparation is on the full swing to observe 72nd Independence Day in great enthusiasm and national fervor. DGP A K Shukla led Final Parade rehearsal for 15th August on yesterday.

According to program schedule the day would dawn with special tributes to the freedom fighters for the integrity, solidarity and development of India. The 15th August is a national holiday in India.

However, parade is to be conducted in the ground of the Assam riffle by TSR, CRPF, and Tripura Police, women police, home guard, NCC, NSS and others to grace the occasion of 15th August, the Indian Independence Day.

The speech will be given by the Chief Minister followed by March past by divisions of the paramilitary forces and Tripura Police.

The aim of Independence Day should not only be to celebrate the day as a holiday. There should be serious efforts in educating the present and future generations about the freedom struggles which the Saviors underwent to give us the freedom that we enjoy today.

We should always remember that the freedom we earned was not easy and was through a lot of sacrifices and bloodbath, and that we should always respect our freedom, instead of taking it for granted.

The day is celebrated all over the country with flag raising ceremonies, tributes to the national heroes and fireworks taking place. The main celebrations take place in the Assam riffle ground, where the Chief Minister Manik Sarkar will raise the national flag.

In Agartala preparation is getting momentum as the vendors have set up stalls for the sale of Colorful flags, national flags, banners and picture of national heroes who struggled day and night to achieve a common goal of freedom.
