Agartala, September 16 (TIWN): The state disaster management authority is planning a unique move to promote awareness on disaster management in Tripura. Five animated books on stories for sensitization and awareness generation would be inaugurated at a state level workshop on flood and earthquake scheduled to be held on September 19 at the Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhawan here, Revenue Secretary Swapan Saha said.
Speaking to reporters at the civil secretariat here this evening, the official said that with most executives and top officials of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) busy attending the flood victims of Jammu & Kashmir, a consultant of the authority would be visiting Tripura on the workshop. Director of NE Institute of Science and Technology Dr. R Durah would be attending the workshop as well, the official said.
Around 1,400 students from thirteen different schools of the state are slated to attend the workshop alongwith civil defense volunteers.
“The initiative to introduce animated books on disaster management occurred to us from the idea that children are more attracted to visuals than texts. We hope this project to be a good success”, Saha said today.
The workshop would be organized with funds from the National School Safety Programme.
