AGARTALA, Sept 15 (TIWN): Most notorious criminal Amit Ghosh is sentenced to lifetime imprisonment on Monday. CJM Court today sentenced the punishment for this notorious antisocial on Anil Gan Murder case. Earlier on Friday, Chief Judicial Magistrate convicted him guilty and declared that the punishment would be announced on September 15th. Likewise he is subjected to lifetime imprisonment today.

It is to be mentioned that on 2^nd October 1997 Amit Ghosh suddenly appeared at the house of Anil Gan and searched for his sister. Finding no clue of her he had brutally killed Anil and hurriedly left by flight to Kolkata. There also, he was not abstainingfrom his criminal activities. He had murdered his own father-in-law. Thereafter Kolkata Police arrested him and produced before the court. The then police from Agartala reached there and appealed to the court for transit remand. After granting of transit,  Agartala Police brought him back to the state. Though he was released from all the cases but this case resulted in his lifetime imprisonment.

Several charges of extortion, rape, murder and many more for which there are several allegations on him including the Anil Gan murder issue’s 448,302,(34) under IPC sections, as Advocate Sharadindu Das Gupta briefed this to TIWN. Others connected with Amit were Ashok Dhar, Tultul Chowdhuri, who are now under custody, and Swapan Karmakar, who lastly became approver of this case and pointed that, Amit Ghosh is the mastermind behind Anil Gan killing..
