AGARTALA, Aug 4 (TIWN): The Brahmin priests on Saturday under 'Vedic Brahmin Samaj' has raised various demands from the BJP led State Govt.
They met Chief Minister Biplab Deb at Janata Durbar in the morning, placed 7 charters of demands.
Their demands are :
1) To make a 'Ved Vidyalay' / 'Gurukul Asram' in Agartala to practice and research about Hindu books and histories,
2) In each subdivision at least one centre should be opened for puja and worshipping,
3) 'Vedic Brahmin Samaj' run priestly works, syllabus and exams should get govt recognition,
4) Three class rooms are needed for Purohiyta (Hindu priestly) practices and learning, govt should consider it at free,
5) Social allowance for poor Brahmins,
6) Ration commodities distribution at low rate to the poor Brahmins,
7) Yatri Nibas for Hindu devotees and like other religions govt should help them financially.
