AGARTALA, September 14 (TIWN): The 46th annual general conference of Tripura Veterinary Doctors Association (TVDA) was inaugurated by minister for animal resources development department Aghore Debbarma at Matangini Pritilata Sabhagriha here today.
Speaking in the conference minister for animal resources development department Aghore Debbarma emphasized on the role of vets in augmenting productivity enhancement of livestock and poultry for increased production of milk, meat and eggs to supply the required proteins of animal origin for human health. He also asserted that this sector is very important for giving a boost for economic upliftment of the rural poor and tribal populations of the state. He also emphasized on use of indigenous cattle breeds for milk production, expansion of brooder house schemes, piggery and goatery development in the state.
Tripura is an agrarian state with 2,55,241 hectare cultivable land, current fellow land 1,200 hectare and forest area 6,294,29 hectare. Live stocks play an important role in sustaining the rural economy, he added.
Minister for finance and food Bhanulal Saha, Principal secretary of animal resources development department Dr. V. K. Bahuguna, general secretary of Tripura Veterinary Doctors Association (TVDA) Dr. Sanjib Das and director of animal resources development department Dr. Dharmeswar Das was present in the conference.
