CM suggests health minister to caution docs

Agartala, September 14: In an act of acknowledgement of negligence of duties by doctors serving in the Tripura Health Services, Chief Minister Manik Sarkar on Sunday suggested Minister for Health and Family Welfare Tapan Chakraborty to caution and sensitize medicos on their duties.

Addressing the inaugural session of the state’s treatment protocol website and review meeting at Pragya Bhawan here today, Chief Minister Sarkar admitted lacuna in the state’s rural healthcare. He said that highest stress would be laid henceforth in strengthening rural healthcare system.

The government is ready to engage necessary nurses, para-medic staff, multi-purpose workers, blood banks etc  in phased manner in all public healthcare centers, Sarkar said adding that heart and kidney specialists would be brought from elsewhere in the country to man the two apex level hospitals of Tripura – Indira Gandhi Memorial (IGM) Hospital and GBP Hospital at Agartala.

The review meeting later resolved to supply mosquito repellant medicines to medicate mosquito nets in village committees and gram panchayat level.

The Chief Minister said that the government would urge all MLAs and Parliamentarians to donate ambulances in their concerned areas from the Area Development Fund. The state government would ensure full ambulance coverage across the state in phased manner after the legislators and Parliamentarians have done their part, he said.

He urged for raising vaccination and institutional delivery to 100 percent.                                

Chief Minister Sarkar today laid highest stress on effective outreach of healthcare facilities to distant areas of the state and said that Department could use choppers for emergency services if necessary.
