INPT to flex muscles on Monday; ILP, ADC empowerment on top priority

Agartala, September 14 (TIWN): In an attempt to regain trust in the hills, the Indigenous Nationalist Party of Twipra (INPT) would hold a rally in Agartala on Monday. The party would demand eight point demands including more power to the TTAADC, direct funding to the district council authorities, allotting all government departments till the Department of Higher Education to the TTAADC authorities etc.

Asked about the agenda of the rally, INPT general secretary Jagadish Debbarma today said, “We are going to hold a rally on eight point demands on Monday. The rally would start from Astabal Ground in Agartala and cover all major streets of the city as a part of our initiative to garner public support for more power to the ADC”.

He said that the party earlier placed demands of more power to the TTAADC, direct funding to the district council authorities, allotting all government departments till the Department of Higher Education etc to Governor, Chief Minister, Union Home Minister, Prime Minister.

“We will visit the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on our agenda of Inner Line Permit (ILP) for ADC areas in Tripura, more power to the ADC and other issues”, Jagadish said.

A five member delegation of the INPT headed by party supremo BK Hrangkhawl is expected to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Rajnath Singh during a visit to Delhi by end September.

The IPFT recently earlier announced that the party would be meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and tribal Affairs minister Joel Oram at Delhi soon.
