CM visits burnt market in Agartala, announces Rs. 75,000 compensation and loans for Victims

AGARTALA, July 13 (TIWN): Chief Minister Biplab Deb has visited the fire engulfed Kalyani market of Agartala city which was burnt on Thursday afternoon in a massive fire. After visiting the market, Chief Minister Biplab Deb, who is also the local MLA of that place under Banamalipur has announced Rs. 75,000 of compensation on immediate basis for the shop-keepers and later further loans will be given to them. CM told media that at least 7 shops were burnt in the incident whereas no insurance was done of those shops as none of the shops were cemented or big-structured. The victims were crying in front of the Chief Minister and one woman said, she has lost her Rs. 5 lakhs of product in that massive fire.“Govt is urgently managing Rs. 75,000 for the victims, but the loss was of Rs. 4 lakhs, Rs. 5 lakhs like that. So, to overcome the loss Govt will manage loans through Mudra Bank for them. There are 7 shops under one owner which are totally burnt. The owner will get Rs. 80,000, whereas the shop-keepers will get Rs. 75,000”, CM told media.The Chief Minister also said that already Rs. 5,000 have been given to the shop-keepers and Rs. 10,000 to the owner. Huge losses of two shop-keepers were informed, which is above Rs. 50 lakhs.

The fire incident which took place at Kalyani, near Math Chowmuhani when due to short circuit fire sparked in a shop at there caused massive losses to 8 families including the owner of the all flats.

After the fire sparked out, within few minutes the fire flames started expanding and nearby shops were affecting one by one. Locals had immediately informed fire brigade about the incident. Getting informed two engines of fire brigade rushed to the spot and controlled the fire.
